    Cooking

Each meal we provide is freshly cooked by volunteers.

There is a lead and an assistant cook for each meal, and new volunteers may like to start off as assistant until they become confident to lead; lead cooks also plan the menu and shop for ingredients in advance. Commitment is organised via a rota, and for all roles we suggest a minimum commitment of once a month.

Cooks are always very welcome to stay, eat, and chat to people. The food is important, but what many volunteers find most meaningful about the evening is the chance to connect with people in their humanity and hear their stories.

    Hospitality

We aim to provide a warm welcome as well as good food! Hospitality volunteers greet everyone who turns up, and create friendly conversation during the meal. They generally also pitch in with serving food, clearing plates, and washing up after the meal.

Safe Spaces

Safe Spaces is a free and independent support service foranyone who has experienced abuse in relation to the Church of England, the Church in Wales, or the Catholic Church of England and Wales. This could be abuse by someone who holds any role in the church or is linked to participating in a church-led activity or group. If you have been affected, however long ago, Safe Spaces can provide you with support. You do not have need to have told the police or the church authorities, and you do not have to still be involved with the church. Your information will not be shared without your consent, unless you or someone else is in immediate danger. Safe Spaces can provide a range of help, including advocating with authorities and other agencies, giving emotional support, providing information (including information on church and police procedures), understanding your needs and working together on individual support plans.
