St Paul’s and the Newtown Community share the same geographical boundary. The Forum meets every six weeks at St Pauls to discuss all issues of local interest and sometimes controversy. The Forum has been running for ten years and is chaired by a member of St Pauls. It is attended by local councillors and senior community development staff from the City Council, members of the twelve local residents associations in the area and other interested local people.
Newtown has been an area of considerable growth over recent years and this has raised many issues relating to planning, traffic management, appropriate housing and the impact of development on local resources. It is a unique group where councillors and local people come together in a voluntary context. Its worth is shown in its longevity and the regular attendance of all members.
