Children and young people are very welcome. We actively seek to include them and cater for them in all our activities, and specifically on a Sunday morning. They remain in the service for the first part, then leave for their own activities, returning towards the end of the service if there is communion.
Children and young people play an active role in services, particularly, ‘Celebrating the Seasons’ when there are age-appropriate activities for them to join in with and contribute to, along with the rest of the church family.
For the youngest children, we have an area near the entrance to the church with comfy seats, a carpet, some toys and tabletop activities, enabling parents and carers to remain in the service. The Lower Hall is also available with a cupboard of toys and games for those who need more space to roam around!
The Bouncers group is for ages 4-7, and meets in the foyer for Bible stories, games and crafts.
For those over 7, the Confused group meets upstairs for a range of creative activities and projects. Several times a term, the older members (11+) meet separately for refreshments and a chat with a leader, either in the chapel, or at a nearby coffee shop.
Everyone is welcome to be involved in providing for and engaging with children and young people. We follow safeguarding and child protection procedures recommended by the Diocese of Ely and all children's leaders are DBS checked. We are open to ideas for extending and developing the ways in which we encourage our younger members to be active participants in the life of the church.
